SUCCESSFUL FRIEND TRIP

Have you ever had one of those nights where you and your friends have a few too many glasses of wine, and suddenly you think a trip away together is a great idea? Well, we have a few suggestions on making that trip a reality... And making sure that when you return, you come back as friends with a lifetime of memories.

STEP 1:

  • What do we want to spend our time, energy & budget doing?
Is it museums, bar hopping, laying by the pool or trying local food?

  • Let’s make sure everyone is going to enjoy the trip, and we have a mix of structure and "free time”

  • Do NOT assume that everyone will want to be together every minute of the day

STEP 2:

  • Discuss the money!

  • How are we paying for things and paying one another back?

  • Consider an app like SPLITWISE to track everything throughout the trip, and by the end let it do “the math” for you

  • Set up your system prior to departure so that everyone is in the know

STEP 3:

  • Communication while in destination

  • While most of us “activate our phones” while traveling, some places have limited service

  • Make sure you know how everyone will touch base

STEP 4:

  • Schedule dining reservations for the group

  • The larger groups or more popular spots may require a credit card deposit or a prefix group menu

STEP 5:

  • When things go wrong, practice your patience

  • Just because you’re good friends doesn’t mean you’re good “travel friends” together

  • When things go wrong and you’re tired / hungry / frustrated; it’s when we have emotional reactions

  • Have an agent in your corner to help with mishaps and smile along the way

STEP 6:

  • Take breaks from one another

  • Maybe it’s a nap or a glass of wine by yourself

  • It’s okay!

STEP 7:

  • Use. A. Travel. Agent.

  • Lean on someone else’s expertise and don’t feel “responsible” for managing the trip

  • Skip over having to deal with everyone’s credit cards, and let an agent handle the payments for you

  • Have systems in place, tips & tricks - and someone to go to with questions

If you’re considering a group trip, let’s get started today. Whether it’s your multigenerational family or a group of friends - HERE is where we begin.
