APARTMENT STAY vs HOTEL STAY CONSIDERATIONS
Choosing the right accomodations will make a huge difference in your travle experience. You may be drawn to the comfort of a hotel or love the idea of having your own apartment. How do you decide? Start here....
Timing of the Stay
If you are taking a redeye into a city and landing at 6am (exhausted), typically apartments do not have access to "hold" luggage. You would need to utilize a luggage storage location, private driver or see if you can get an "additional day" on the apartment rental.
This adds complexity that sometimes we don't proactively consider.
Budget
We can see more "bang for buck" with apartments - especially if we are trying to hold more than 3 people. The other bonus is that our apartment can bring a kitchen, which means we can cook in the apartment. This can add up, especially if we are feeding an entire family.
.Duration of Stay
If our stay is 3 days or less, a hotel can be an easier choice. You aren't staying for too long, you want to be able to "drop in" and keep moving on with exploring.
If we are staying closer to a week - we may feel better in an apartment. The chance for a potential washing machine or the feeling of "living somewhere" can go a far way.

Location
Hotels can be just about anywhere. We can be in the center of the action, a quaint neighborhood, walkable or out in the woods. The experience may feel a little bit more - business than authentic. But you typically have a few options to choose from.
Apartments are typically in more residental areas. You'll feel like you're living the life of the city you are in. While it may lack the walkability to the 'major sites', you'll be "living like the locals".
Service & Convenience
If you love having a freshly made bed, clean towels daily & someone to call any hour of the day for room service - you may be a hotel person. Which is great! It's fantastic to have a local group to lean on and assist you with figuring out this new spot.
On the other hand, if you prefer independence when traveling - and space from others... an apartment may be right up your alley. Many apartments have "hosts" with support numbers for emergencies. But you will not be getting as much hand holding.
Bottom Line
It is up to you! As a Travel Advisor, I book hotels and apartments. My apartments are booked exclusively through vetted suppliers with Property Management Teams. This gives an added level of security for my clients (and me) that the property they are planning to visit has been vetted, confirmed & has additional checks behind it.
Of course hotels are common place for me to book for clients, and I love finding the best option for the trip of their dreams.
So - are you more hotel or apartment? I'm a mix... New city? Hotel. Familiar city? Apartment. Kids with me? Apartment. Romantic Trip? Hotel.
